The Botanical Society of Britain and Ireland (BSBI) is a scientific society for the study of flora, plant distribution and taxonomy relating to Great Britain, Ireland, the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man. Founded as the Botanical Society of London in 1836 it then became known as the Botanical Society of the British Isles (many in print tiles still use this name) and changed to it’s current name in 2013. It is the largest organisation devoted to botany in the British Isles and includes both professional and amateur members.

In this section you will find all the publications produced by the BSBI. The society publishes a wide range of books on British Botany, including a series of handbooks on ‘difficult’ plant groups.

Members of the BSBI can purchase all these titles with a members’ discount – click on the logo at the top RHS of any page to see more details.
