Very scarce. Original tan leather boards with gilt edge roll pattern, rebacked with slightly paler tan leather with gilt spine titles and black floral stamping. Pp.xx+5 plates+330+26[index]. Ex-libris Douglas H. Kent, notable botanist and author of a number of titles including The 1992 List of vascular plants of the British Isles; his name is inscribed to the first blank. Original boards soot darkened and bumped. Internally crisp and clean with very little age toning or foxing; moreso to the closed textblock edges. Dust dulled top edge. A very well preserved copy of this very scarce work by the notable Quaker botanist and associate of the Linnean Society Stephen Robson (1741– 1779).
