This is the latest in the BSBI’s series of county rare plant registers, and is a double version, covering North and South Wiltshire (Watsonian vice-counties 7 and 8). It will provide an insight into the current status and distribution of Wiltshire’s notable vascular plants, and should be of interest to statutory agencies, conservation organisations, local authorities, major landowners and land managers, environmental consultants and professional and amateur botanists.
275 taxa have been identified according to strict criteria of national and local rarity and threat. Other notable taxa that have been included are plants of international importance, UKBAP species and species listed on Schedule 8 of the Wildlife & Countryside Act.
The status of each one is given in terms of lists of records (generally 4-figure or 6-figure grid references) or distribution maps.
The Wiltshire Rare Plant Register contains 136 printed pages and is A4 paperback.
• Introductory sections covering species selection criteria, and linking some of the main habitats of Wiltshire to particular notables.
