The enlarged 3rd edition. Inscribed “Lt. Col. Carruthers. To his friend Dormont” to top of title page. Half tan leather with marbled boards; red leather spine label with gilt titles. Boards significantly rubbed and worn. Rear hinge and joint cracked though holding firm; front board held only by strings. Internally generally remaining crisp and bright, though with offsetting throughout; foxing mostly only affecting the endpapers. Generally clean, though with staining (early ink spillage?) affecting four pages, not obscuring text. Soiling to closed textblock edges. Includes an engraved plate showing hand tools.
