Very scarce. 3/4 burgundy leather octavo with marbled boards, endpapers and textblock edges; bumped, rubbed and worn with some loss to the leather. Internally generally very crisp and clean – just the very occasional minor fault – with light age toning and almost no foxing. The first volume of the annual Naturalist’s Note Book, each being a compilation of “anecdotes, theories, and facts” drawn from various publications, original correspondence, and learned societies including Once a Week, Chamber’s Journal, The Field, Land And Water, Gardener’s Chronicle, The Popular Science Review, Quarterly Journal of Science, Zoologist, Entomologist, The American Naturalist.
