This volume, the second in a set of two, provides a variety of cases on the use of natural fibres in sustainable textile manufacture. The first volume covers fibres from stems from a variety of plants such as flax, jute, sisal, hemp, and nettle. This second volume deals with fibres from leaves, fruits, bark, and others. Chapters here cover issues such as how these fibres can be used to sustainably create fabric, the socioeconomic value of these fibres, and remediation of byproducts from the use of these fibres.

Author Biography

Miguel Angel Gardetti Before obtaining his doctoral degree Miguel Angel Gardetti holds two Master’s Degrees: one in Business Administration from the IAE Business School (Universidad Austral, Argentina), and the other one in Environmental Studies and Sustainable Development from the Universidad de Ciencias Empresariales y Sociales (Argentina).  In the field of sustainable textiles and fashion, he founded the Centre for Sustainable Textile. He was guest co-editor for severals publications in journals and books. Moreover, he was a renowned professor at different Latin American universities, and participated both as trainer and instructor in projects of the Inter-American Development Bank.  Between 2012 and 2015, he was also a member of the Consulting Board of the “Future Fashion” Project of MISTRA (a Swedish government foundation that conducts research into environmental topics).  He participated in the activity “Changing the World through Fashion,” organised by the United Nations for the 4th Conference on Sustainable Development (Rio+20). Dr. Subramanian Senthilkannan Muthu Dr. Subramanian Senthilkannan Muthu holds a PhD in Textiles Sustainability and has written around 200 books and 100 research publications. He is well known for his contributions in the field of sustainable textiles and has extensive academic and industrial experience. He is the subject editor of The Journal of the Textile Institute and he edits three books series with Springer Nature.
