Author Biography

Walter Scott is the Shetland representative of the Botanical Society of the British isles, and has been involved in a number of publications about Shetland’s plants, including (with co-author Richard Palmer) The flowering plants and ferns of the Shetland Islands, in 1987. A native Shetlander, Walter lives in Scalloway and has an intimate knowledge of the Shetland environment and its plants. ~Paul Harvey is the Manager of the Shetland Biological Records Centre and has lived in Shetland since 1984. From 1989 to 1992 he was the warden of the Fair Isle Bird Observatory. In 1993 he became an Area Officer for Scottish Natural Heritage, in Lerwick, a post he held until taking up his present position at the Records Centre in 2001. Paul lives in Dunrossness. ~Roger Riddington was the first Manager of the Shetland Biological Records Centre, from 1998 to 2001. He also first came to Shetland to work at the Fair Isle Bird Observatory, as warden from 1994 to 1997. Roger now works from his home in Dunrossness. ~Morag Fisher is an Area Officer with Scottish Natural Heritage in Lerwick. A keen amateur botanist Morag is originally from Orkney, but moved to Shetland in 1997 and now lives in Nesting
