Angus Whitson grew up on the east coast of Scotland and has lived most of his life in the country, never far from the sea. He started writing professionally at the age of fifty-eight as a freelance copywriter and business writer. He has ghostwritten two books and, in 2003, was asked by the Dundee Courier to write a weekly countryside diary entitled 'Man with Two Dogs'.
