Across the globe, Earth rumbles. Mountains scar under the fury of landslides, leaving behind not just physical devastation but also a hidden contamination seeping into freshwater. This is a story not just of rock and ruin, but of a silent contamination, whispering across landscapes and jeopardizing the health of communities. This groundbreaking book, unveils the intricate and perilous dance between landslides and water quality. We navigate the treacherous terrain of climate change and human interventions, where landslides become amplifiers of waterborne threats, altering geochemistry and raising health concerns for vulnerable populations. Delving into the geologic secrets of landslide-prone areas, we dissect the complex interplay between rocks, minerals, and the dissolving power of water. From cascading mountains to trembling rivers, we track the hidden journey of dissolved contaminants, exposing their invisible imprint on water quality. This book is a beacon of hope in the face of a cascading threat. By demystifying the link between landslides and water health, we empower communities to safeguard their future. With each page, we build resilience, offering tangible strategies for mitigating landslide risks and protecting this precious resource through forecasting tools, engineering solutions, and community resilience strategies for protecting freshwater in a world of increasing slope instability.
