Irrigation with Treated Sewage Effluent: Management for Environmental Protection

Properly treated sewage effluent becomes an alternative source of irrigation water, and at the same time provides a convenient means of sewage disposal. The object of this volume is to provide the reader with a comprehensive overview of the principles and practices of irrigation with treated sewage effluent. Special emphasis is placed on the arid quality of the water (eg pathogenic organisms, salt and nutrients). The authors describe the main components of effluent-soil-plant systems involved in the development of appropriate irrigation, fertilization and crop management.
