This is the first ever concise guide to the wild orchids of the Isle of Wight covering the 18 species currently found on the island and 8 species that have been lost. Although a field guide to the Orchids of the Isle of Wight, virtually all of the species included can be found across much of England.  The descriptions include not just information about both the species and localities where they can be found but useful tips from personal observation. The narrative throughout is personal and engaging, infused by the author’s  enthusiasm for the subject.

Beyond discovery and documentation, the book tells the story of how the author became interested in orchids and his efforts trying to protect them on the island from cutting and habitat loss.
