The contributions to this volume present new experience in hydrocarbon exploration, especially in basic analysis methods and risk assessment by computer modelling. Covering mainly the North Sea and adjacent areas, examples from Paris basin, offshore Southern Italy, Pannonian Basin, Bulgaria, Turkey, Russian Platform and Baltic Sea are also presented. New approaches in risk-weighting are performed by Monte Carlo simulations, by application of expert-system technology and also by taking into account the importance of man-made mechanical effects, resulting from stress-sensitivity measurements from log and core data.
