The advent of CRISPR/Cas technology has ushered plant science into an era defined by precision, efficiency, and unprecedented possibility. Once constrained by lengthy breeding cycles and limited genetic resolution, plant genome engineering today stands transformed by a tool that allows targeted, predictable, and heritable modifications. This book volume has been conceived to capture both the scientific depth and the practical relevance of this revolutionary technology. The book brings together contributions from leading researchers who have shaped, and continue to shape, the CRISPR landscape in plant systems. Each chapter has been carefully curated to provide a balanced synthesis of foundational principles, methodological advances, and real-world applications. Readers will find comprehensive discussions on CRISPR/Cas variants, guide RNA design, delivery strategies, and editing outcomes, alongside emerging approaches such as base editing, prime editing, and multiplex genome engineering. This book is intended for researchers, educators, and advanced students seeking both conceptual clarity and practical insight. It is our hope that this volume will serve as a reliable reference, stimulate interdisciplinary dialogue, and inspire the next generation of plant biotechnologists to harness CRISPR/Cas for the benefit of global food security and environmental sustainability.
