This book offers a critical, multidisciplinary exploration of neuropsychiatric and developmental disorders. The volume opens with a theoretical framework drawing on Foucault, Szasz, and Basaglia, problematizing psychiatric diagnosis as a potential technology of normalization and epistemic injustice. It then examines specific syndromes—including Oppositional Defiant Disorder, Wernicke-Korsakoff, Balint’s, Charles Bonnet, Sundowning, Polymelia, and Noah Syndrome—through an integrated lens. Each chapter combines neuroscience, classical psychoanalysis, and bioenergetic analysis, proposing a model of care that respects patient singularity beyond mere taxonomy. The work positions itself as a journey through the “broken symphonies of the mind,” advocating for compassionate neuro-understanding and an alternative to purely classificatory approaches in psychiatry. The book has over 100 illustrations making it easy to comprehend.
