3 vols of 3. Full black leather with 5 spine bands and gilt titles; profusely embossed boards; AEG; gilt blind tooled border on insides of boards; red marbled endpapers. Moderately bumped, rubbed and worn all round but remains a very attractive set. Interesting crested bookplate of W. Holden to each front pastedown. Hinges cracked and joins worn but remain strong. FFEP of vol. 1 has become partially detached at the top 1 1/2″ causing a 5mm tear to the tissueguard of the half title page. Ornately illustrated red, blue and gilt half title page to each volume including a black and white drawing. Uniformly very crisp and clean internally. 1847 New Edition. Overall Very Good. An attractive addition to any library.
