This book provides valuable insights to interdisciplinary STEM researchers, policymakers, and stakeholders engaged in addressing the issue of plastic waste. It explores various processes for the effective management of plastic waste, innovative substitute materials for conventional plastics, advanced recycling techniques, and potential methods to transform waste into valuable resources through valorization. Additionally, it examines the impact of legislation aimed at banning specific plastics. This book serves as a comprehensive guide for navigating modern trends and challenges, featuring current policies, case studies, and examples of best practices from around the world. The primary goal is to highlight the need for and mechanisms of effective plastic waste management, focusing on alternatives to traditional plastics, recycling, valorization, and plastic bans. Existing literature often presents fragmented and isolated concepts regarding plastic waste management. This book aims to bridge those gaps by compiling diverse concepts, theories, and innovations from multiple disciplines. Its primary objective is to foster cooperative initiatives among governments, industries, and communities to support the development of sustainable solutions to plastic waste management.
