This book explores the fascinating role of light signaling in regulating plant growth, development, and communication, an area of research that has captivated scientists since the post-Darwin era. This edited book provides a comprehensive overview of the current state of knowledge on photoreceptors and photosensory communication in plants, covering mechanisms, signaling pathways, and potential applications. Photoreceptors and photosensory communication play critical roles in regulating plant growth, development, and responses of gene expression to environmental stimuli. The book will provide an updated information on the strategies of stress tolerance and crop productivity by means of photoreceptor engineering and protein remodeling in response to light signaling. The book shall be beneficial in highlighting the role of various signaling molecules in response to light signaling.

Author Biography

Soumya Mukherjee is an Assistant Professor at the Dept of Botany, Jangipur College, University of Kalyani, West Bengal, India. He obtained his PhD in Plant Physiology and Biochemistry from the University of Delhi. His current research interest lies in understanding the photoperiod-dependent physiological & molecular signaling events associated with salinity stress tolerance in sunflower and tomato seedlings. Dr. Mukherjee has authored ~50 scientific publications and edited seven books on various areas of plant physiology and biochemistry. He is an Editorial board member of some reputed SCI indexed journals. Dr. Mukherjee has almost 10 years of experience in plant stress physiology. He has a SCOPUS citation of 2590 with h-index 31. He is presently working in the area of salinity tolerance and photo-modulatory biochemical events associated with seedling growth and seed yield in sunflower plants.
