Nitrate Contamination: Exposure, Consequence and Control – Workshop Proceedings

The nitrate content in drinking water is rising at an alarming rate in several parts of the world, due to the lack of proper sewage treatment and mostly due to excess fertilizer applications. This text addresses the three main types of expertise needed to select proper control alternatives for nitrate contamination: hydrological engineering, to estimate nitrate exposure; biomedical engineering, to assess the health consequences; and environmental engineering to find treatment strategies.
