Mormyridae and Other Osteoglossomorpha: MAC/Windows Version

This CD-ROM is not only a taxonomic reference work, compiled by Prof. Harder (University of Tubingen, Germany), but also a completely revised monograph on the family Mormyridae (elephant fishes). Detailed information on 197 species and subspecies is given, including taxonomic description, type locality, distribution, etymology, taxonomy, synonyms and references. The program is illustrated by outline drawings and photographs, including some of live specimens. Information on electric organ discharges and measurements is provided. Two types of illustrated computer-assisted identification keys (a detailed multiple entry key and an illustrated text key to genus level) are part of the system. A glossary of 30 terms is also included.
