Les bryophytes des Pyrénées-Orientales

The department of Pyrénées-Orientales is one of the richest in France for bryophytes, with 645 mosses, 199 liverworts and 3 hornworts being listed for this small department. The distribution of each species is presented in map form. This work is based on field surveys in the different ecological regions of the department, as well as a compilation of bibliographical data and herbaria material. The reader is invited to discover the exceptional bryological heritage of the Pyrénées-Orientales,region by region, through remarkable sites, mythical species, and other, more common ones. This book can be used as a field guide to guide new surveys, necessary to complete the inventory of a department that has an unsuspected richness and great complexity. The problems of conservation of the bryological flora are referred to throughout.
