This book is an illustrative and more approachable companion to the ‘Dictionary’ It places in context the recent seismic changes in classification driven by DNA sequence analyses, and forms a link between phenetic and phylogenetic approaches to families of fungi with more detailed descriptions and notes on ecology economic uses etc. It also depicts the extraordinary range of morphological structures found in fungi, celebrating myco-diversity, and hopefully stimulating interest in mycology to those outside the inner circle of fungal systematists.
