Bryophytes

Mosses, liverworts and hornworts produce a large variety of compounds which exhibit remarkable biological activity. This book provides a comprehensive survey of the chemistry, biology and pharmacology of these plant groups. The contributions gathered together in this volume were presented at an international symposium on bryophyte chemistry and chemical taxonomy held in September 1988. All aspects of the chemistry of bryophytes are discussed, including biochemical, botanical, pharmaceutical, chemotaxonomical and environmental studies. In addition, synthetic studies of new natural products found in bryophytes are covered.
