Blood Groups: Refresher and Update

This syllabus provides a review and update of certain serologic, biochemical, genetic and molecular aspects of major and minor blood groups. It covers major advances since the mid-1980s through the application of improved methods for identifying, purifying and characterizing membrane proteins, as well as further developments in molecular biology. An update on blood group nomenclature and the biological role of blood groups is also included.
