A History of the Earth and Animated Nature by Oliver Goldsmith in 2 half-leather vols. with Hand-Coloured Illustrations. Vol 1: fading and severe rubbing to spine and corners, worn through in places. Rear hinge cracked, front hing broken, front joint split bottom quarter. Pp. 529-533 detached but present – lightly chipped as a result. Vol. 2 fares much better, with similar rubbing but only worn through at the base of the spine. Both hinges cracked with the rear hinge more tender. Both textblocks are mildly foxed, with the plates being more age-toned than the general text pages, and occasional thumbing marks, particularly to vol. 2.
