Facsimile reproduction of the 5th edition. Book Condition: Fine. Dust Jacket: Near Fine.
Large format facsimile of the 1729 5th edition, 29x23cm, brown cloth boards with gilt titles, gilt top edge, inside a DJ that shows the original title page on the front.
Very crisp, clean and bright inside and out. The cream price-clipped DJ has very slight tanning to the spine, very slight bumping along the top edge and a small chip out of the bottom of the spine, otherwise excellent.
First presented in 1662 as a paper to the Royal Society, Silva was published as a book two years later in 1664, and is recognised as one of the most influential texts on forestry ever published.
A lovely copy of this scarce large format reproduction.
