Original blue pictorial cloth boards with gilt spine and cover titles over 3-colour mountain image. This copy came with the gilt top edge, now a little dust dulled. Wear to top and bottom of spine with small split to top; bumped corners; light marks to boards. Internally crisp, clean and bright, incl. folding map at rear; tanned endpapers and just a little spotting to the endpapers and prelims. 20 colour illustrations incl. frontispiece, all in excellent condition and all with tissueguards, though some tissueguards lightly thumbed and plate 3 isn’t quite bound in the correct place. Ex-libris the notable botanist and author Mary Briggs, whose attractive bookplate is on the FFEP.
