A vibrant anthology of contemporary botanical art, New Botanical Art showcases over 200 essential works where nature meets artistic expression on an inspiring visual journey. This beautiful collection brings together more than forty contemporary artists of different nationalities and generations, each offering a unique interpretation of the botanical world. Organised in chapters dedicated to individual artists, the book presents a curated selection of over 200 illustrations, paintings, silkscreens, lithographs and engravings. Each chapter includes a concise overview of the artist’s career and practice, highlighting their stylistic approach, recurring themes, techniques and influences. While rooted in centuries of artistic and scientific tradition, the book also reflects how botanical art has evolved beyond its historical role as a “lesser” genre. From the meticulous observation of early naturalists to the expressive reinterpretations of modern and contemporary artists, these works reveal the enduring dialogue between creativity, science and nature. Spanning detailed realism to expressive abstraction, New Botanical Art is both a celebration of nature and a reflection on its continuing role in contemporary art. It offers an inspiring visual journey for illustrators, designers, art lovers and anyone drawn to the timeless beauty of the natural world.
