In recent years the study of human evolution has been transformed. There have been rapid developments in palaeo-anthropology, ecology, molecular biology and genetics, all of which have enabled scientists to understand the existing fossils more fully. In addition there have been some discoveries of human fossils in Africa and Asia. These finds have stimulated an intense debate about our origins. This work sets out to present an overall view of man’s evolution, and takes account of historical, contemporary and possible future perspectives on the evolution of man.
