William Heinemann, London: 1919. Hardcover. 1st edition, 1st impression, The account of Shackleton’s amazing story of survival during the “Endurance” expedition. The silver gilt is very bright making this a very good copy, the page edges are browned, as usual with this book.Owner’s inscription on front end paper, 4to, (xxi) 376pp, 1 colour photo & numerous B&W photos throughout the text. Original blue cloth with silver gilt title and silhouette of “Endurance” trapped in the ice. Cloth very lightly rubbed at edges, with some creasing due to poor quality of the materials used at that time. Overall a very bright copy.
