2nd edition. Book Condition: Good+.

Original green cloth with gilt spine titles and fern design on covers. Lightly bumped and moderately rubbed with wear to top and bottom of spine and occasionally to the cloth covering the joints. Small stain to rear board of vol. 1. Hinges just beginning to crack however both volumes very firmly bound; some soiling to yellow endpapers. Otherwise internally very clean, unusually with no spotting beyond the prelims. Complete with 79 (37+42) exceptionally clean and bright coloured plates with tissue guards, which are bound in with the text at the relevant places, and 909 (317+592) wood engravings; vol. 1 plate 11 misnumbered as 7; vol. 1 plate 29 misnamed as var. Pumilum instead of var. Abbreviatum (according to the index and a 1st edition comparison). Overall good+. Photos available on request.
