Our Isles: The Makers & Craftsmen

‘They rise together in shoal of one. From shore of isle or coastal town, For these are our fishers of old and now, At helm they ride to waters deep’ This is a collection of poetry and printmaking that aims to capture and celebrate the heritage and craftsmanship of the British Isles. The book comprises of twenty poems with accompanying black and white linocut prints. From baker, beekeeper and birdwatcher to falconer, farrier and forager without forgetting fishermen, ploughmen, whittlers and thatchers, join Angus and Lilly as they explore the British Isles uncovering and celebrating lost and forgotten crafts. Drawing attention to traditional, artisan crafts is of particular importance as many are in danger of becoming ‘extinct’ and there is a fear that without recognition aspects of our cultural heritage will disappear. This is a timely celebration of our cultural heritage and a simpler more rural lifestyle.
