Author Biography

Monique Mancuso is a biologist, Researcher at the Institute for Marine Biological Resources and Biotechnology (IRBIM) CNR of Messina. Her main topic is the evaluation, characterization, identification and impacts of the microplastics in seawater environments and marine organisms. Nunziatina Porcino is a chemist, Researcher at the CNR-IRBIM of Messina, her main topics are focused on the evaluation and characterization of the microplastics in seawater and marine organisms, and the chemistry of Antarctic lakes also. Julian Blasco is a chemist and Director of the Institute of Marine Sciences of Andalusia. The scientific objectives are focused on the behavior and distribution of legacy and emergent pollutants and their eco-toxicological effects. Teresa Romeo is a biologist, Senior Researcher at the Anton Dohrn Zoological Station (SZN). Research interests concern several aspects of marine biology and ecology, with a special focus on large pelagic fish, their behavior and interactions among species, as well as the impact of plastics on fish species. Serena Savoca is a Researcher at the University of Messina. Her research interests focus on marine ecology, marine ecosystem biomonitoring and marine pollution with special attention to the microplastic pollution impact on the aquatic environment and living organisms. Nunziacarla Spano is a Full Professor in marine ecology at the University of Messina. Research interests concern the marine ecology and the nekton and benthos organisms. Teresa Bottari is a veterinarian and Researcher at IRBIM CNR. Her main topics are growth and reproduction of demersal and benthic resources; use of fish parasite as biological tag; impact of plastics on the marine environment (evaluation and characterization of plastics pollution levels in marine organisms).
