Mousses & Hépatiques de France. 2e édition enrichie
French language text
This is a new revised second edition, with more than 30 species added.
Bryophytes are found everywhere in France, from the plains to the highest peaks of the Alps and the Pyrenees. They play a large role in many ecosystems, such as peatlands and forests, where they account for a very large share of biomass. Mosses and liverworts are also excellent bioindicators for the quality of natural habitats. Accessible to all, this field guide will facilitate taking the first steps in the study of bryology. It lists the most recent data on the biology and ecology of mosses and liverworts and lists 400 species in total. In France, there are about 980 species and new ones are still discovered each year. The book provides keys which allow the identification of about 200 species that are easy to observe in France. The 12 protected species In France are also presented in detail and their distribution shown on maps.
The book is in the form of an illustrated glossary which allows you to familiarize yourself with specialist terms used in the study of bryophytes.
